When Was the Last Time Your Child Had to Visit the Pediatrician?

Today America is on track for the country’s worst measles outbreaks in 20 years. One nurse recently interviewed on national television admitted that she was once scared of the vaccines. When pregnant with her third child she fell victim to the anti vaccine myths, but now realizes her mistake. In addition to educating patients about the fact that autism is not a result of vaccinations, the nurse also has a response to people who think that these vaccines have too many dangerous chemicals. She informs people and shows research that breast milk actually has more metal like components than any vaccine does.

In pediatric clinics across the nation both doctors and nurses are running a campaign to help eliminate the myths that too many people believe about vaccines for children. One of the biggest obstacles that so many people face are the success of these vaccines. Because so few of us have ever seen anyone suffer from these devastating childhood diseases like measles we can become complacent. It is essential to realize, however, that it is only because of the effectiveness of these vaccines that this is the case.

Pediatric Clinics Offer a Wide Range of Important Services

In addition to the important vaccines that pediatric clinics offer, there are also many other important services provided. From well baby checks to diagnosis of this year’s strain of the flu, it is important to make sure that parents take their children to the doctor on a regular basis. And while there are some parents who simply rely on a family physician for all of their health care needs, there are others who realize the importance of working with a pediatric office to make sure that the children are getting the care that they need.

Research indicates, in fact, that a child should have wellness checkups at ages two weeks, two months, four months, six months, nine months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, two years, two and a half years, three years, four years and five years. In addition to getting the necessary vaccinations at these wellness checks, doctors are also able to monitor height and weight and other important developmental indicators.

Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers get about seven to eight colds a year and many of these are simply cared for at home. If, however, you have a relationship with a pediatrician you have a resource for any questions you may have if the cold seems out of the ordinary.
