How Your Child Can Stay Fit and Healthy at Summer Camp
Summer can be a time of great opportunities to stay fit by going to summer camp. Here, Groupon looks at some benefits of summer camp for your child’s health.
Summer camps make sure your child is active. Since you are busy, you cannot be there with your child every day in the summer to make sure they stay active and does not just become a couch potato. Camps provide a variety of activities for your child to choose from, so exercise is never boring.
Summer camps also help your child’s social development skills. They meet new people in fun, non-threatening surroundings. They also discover that they can get on well without Mom or Dad. They learn how to cope with being away from home.
Kids also learn skills such as basic cooking techniques and nutrition. Studies have shown that being able to cook helps kids make better food choices. They do not have to rely on just grabbing whatever prepackaged snack is on hand or running to the local fast-food joint for dinner. Children as young as five can start learning how to cook, depending on the child’s individual maturity. Some need to wait until they are at least six.
