What Kids Can Expect at the Dental Office

Video Source

Kids are often frightened of a trip to the dental office. However, if they know what to expect, they can be less afraid. This video will show what kids need to know about going to the dentist.

The child and her parent check-in at reception, then sit in the waiting room until a nurse calls them back. The nurse will get the child and parent situated in an exam room, and ask basic medical history questions.

The patient is then reclined in the exam chair and the hygienist takes a look using a bright overhead light. The child is given a pair of sunglasses to protect their eyes during the exam.

The hygienist uses a mirror and probe to look around the mouth for cavities or other problems, like plaque. The hygienist will then show the kid how to properly brush their teeth at home.

The hygienist then polishes, cleans, and losses the child’s teeth. X-rays are then taken to get a better look at the patient’s mouth. Proper protective equipment is used, and everyone leaves the room until the x-rays are done.

With a clean bill of health, the examination is over and the child is sent on their way.
